Lawrence's First Week

We had a great week. Lawrence is healthy and is starting to sleep for longer periods during the night. He is quite the little culinary adventurer; we took him to several restaurants,  Maggiano's (Italian), El Paso (Mexican), and Honey Pig (Korean BBQ), we also had BGR burgers one night. He is calm and tends to sleep through our restaurant visits.  We keep him in the car seat with the cute cover over it and he just sleeps. We were especially surprised that he slept through through the blaring Korean techno at the Honey Pig.

Grandpa David joined us on Wednesday. With all the family in town, there is rarely a moment when he is not being held or cuddled and Lawrence loves it.

Clayton had a hard time going back to law school. His class mates were really great, giving him notes and helping him catch up. He only has two more days of class before finals. He is starting to panic a bit. In two and a half weeks, he will be finished with his first year of law school. Adding to Clayton's stress is that his laptop started crashing and no longer will connect to the internet. We decided to buy a new laptop for Clayton because he takes his finals on a computer and if he cannot get on the internet, he will have problems.

More Pictures of Baby and a Name!

We finally had to decide what name to put on the birth certificate and we chose, Lawrence Woodbury Preece.

Our little guy is doing well and passed his physical with flying colors. He also passed his hearing screening. He is eating, sleeping and especially pooping with gusto. We have noticed that he furrows his brow just like his dad.

More Pictures and a Name Update

Well, as the name trial continues, we are moving in the direction towards Lawrence Woodbury Preece. Still not official. As we have tried different names with him we had two interesting events that we thought were cute. Nicole asked the baby to give her a high five if his name should be James, the baby laid still and didn't do anything. Then she asked the baby to giver her a high five if wanted his name to be Lawrence, and he stretched his hand out and gave her a high five.

Later, Brittany was video chatting with the baby and asked are you a James, and the baby shrugged his shoulder and and said "UHH." Then she asked him if he wanted to be a Lawrence and he smiled really big.

This is probably circumstantial but it just seems like the baby keeps responding to Lawrence.

The New Arrival!

First an update from two weeks ago.

Some of the ladies in our ward threw Nicole a baby shower. It was really nice and a lot of people came. She got lots of nice gifts, lots of diapers, baby advice, and yummy food. Nicole especially liked the waffle cookies stuffed with lemon curd or nutella.

On Friday, Clayton had a late night at the law school. He had a paper he had to finish before a 10:00pm deadline. When he finished. Nicole picked him up from the metro. We were both hungry and decided to go to Boardwalk Burger and Fries. Clayton got a delicious veggie burger, while Nicole had a murderous double cheese burger. We also ordered a large fry without realizing that the large fry was a giant bucket! We had lots of leftovers. While we were waiting for our food, a man came up to us and said, "Can you do me a favor? Start a bank account for your kid." With that he threw down a $100 bill and walked out of the restaurant, we barely had time to shout a thank you as the door closed. We were really touched by this random act of kindness.

We got a bunch of packages last week and this week. We are very touched by everyone's generosity towards us and our baby boy.

And now for the new arrival.

We got a TREE! Nicole has always wanted to plant a tree for each child she has. As we are mobile, we decided to get an indoor dwarf key lime tree. Right now it is about 12 inches high. It will grow to about 8 feet. We may get a few limes in about 18 months. We hope the baby likes key lime pie because that is what he will get for his birthday.

We also planted a little garden and some of our seedlings have come up. Clayton is supper excited. We planted habenero, jalapenos, Tabasco and Italian hot peppers. We also planted lettuce, tomatoes, and herbs. We got a strawberry plant too!

Clayton had an oral argument on Thursday. He had to represent an appellant in a moot court competition. He discovered that he really does not like appellant advocacy. He is happy to be finished. We went to see hunger games to celebrate. We thought it was good. Nicole thought it was actually better than the book. Clayton thought it was better than twilight.

The Doctor says that Nicole is ready to POP! Nicole visited with a pediatrician last week. We are anxiously awaiting baby. On Friday Clayton kept texting Nicole to find out if she was going into labor. He claims he was just concerned, but Nicole suspects he was looking for an excuse to skip class.

We forgot to mention that Nicole almost burned the house down three weeks ago. We were running out the door to go to home depot and Nicole forgot that she had started cooking a quesadilla. When we were at the store we got a disgruntled call from our landlord. We hurried home to find the house full of smoke! Luckily our landlord was home and he wasn't to harsh. Who could be mad at such a cute crying pregnant lady?

Last Sunday, Clayton's friend Lance, and Lance's fiance, Megan, came to visit. We had a great time talking to them. We really like them and love it when they come over. Nicole thinks it is because Megan is a Texan; so they understand each other.

Clayton practiced tying knots to stay awake during conference. His new favorites are the midshipman's loop and the Eskimo Bowline.

Nicole started an artist blog! You can check out her pieces and see what she is currently working on. Here is a sneak peek. See the full blog here.

Shout out to Reagan, Good luck on your driving test this week! Remember, driving is just like coloring, stay in the lines.

Additional Shout outs to Austin, Mandolyn and CalDon, HAPPY BIRTHDAYS! We hope all of your (reasonable) wildest dreams came true.

Peace and Blessings
